We are very happy to announce that Beverly Worthington, MA, ACNP, has joined FamilyForward as our new executive director.
Please join us in welcoming Beverly Worthington, MA, ACNP, as our new executive director! Beverly started at FamilyForward at the end of October 2024, and brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit sector to her new role. “The board of directors is thrilled to have Beverly take the reins as FamilyForward’s new executive director. As we finalize our strategic plan and begin next steps for steady growth, Beverly’s nonprofit and mission-based experience, particularly in working with underserved individuals and families, will greatly benefit our cause,” said Tim Wayman, chair of the board of directors.
Beverly is looking forward to contributing her wealth of nonprofit administrative expertise to FamilyForward. She stresses the importance of building community. “I intend to actively engage in the communities served by FamilyForward, focusing on lifting up the voices within these communities as we work to advocate for more equitable access to resources and create more security and belonging. The desire to strengthen communities has driven me for most of my career.”
Abundant opportunities for growth
Beverly believes opportunities for growth “are abundant,” and she plans to pursue those opportunities with FamilyForward by nurturing and empowering leaders. Her faith in people’s abilities is why she makes it a practice to encourage and harness leadership potential among volunteers and staff, and in the larger community. An additional unique strength is her history of developing systems to accurately track the impact of mission-driven programs. “Being able to holistically tell our story is critical to cultivating a thriving organization.”
Beverly is excited to partner with the board of directors, staff, volunteers and our communities. “I sense the deep care that this organization’s leadership and supporters have for the communities of the northwest suburbs, and it is my privilege to work with FamilyForward to continue its mission into its next 20 years!”
A passion for building community
In addition to her professional work, Beverly cultivates her interest in empowering people and communities by volunteering in nonprofit development. She currently serves as Education Co-Chair for the Association of Certified Nonprofit Professionals through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. Other volunteer interests include efforts to fight poverty and hunger.
Beverly’s previous work experience comprised administrative leadership roles at the Foundation for the Realization of Human Potential, NFP, Chicago, and Sojourner Truth House, Gary, Ind., and serving as executive director for Faith in Action Caregivers, Ashtabula County, Ohio.
