Sunday, October 20, 2024, FamilyForward supporters came together for the annual Giving Hope event, raising over $80,000 to help low-income, working families across the northwest suburbs of Chicago. It was our most successful Giving Hope event ever.
Magical festivities for a great cause
This year’s theme, Giving Hope: There’s No Place Like a Home, featured a delightful “Wizard of Oz” connection in anticipation of the November film release of “Wicked.” Attendees gathered at Cotillion Banquets, Palatine, for food and festivities designed to celebrate and support FamilyForward’s work to equip local parents to build a stronger future for their families.
Giving Hope: There’s No Place Like a Home included a silent auction and raffle; a gourmet lunch buffet featuring a Donut Wall and complimentary mimosas; enchanting musical entertainment by local musician Nate Massa; and a live appeal to raise funds for families. Many participants got into the spirit of the day, adding a bit of whimsy to the event through their “Wizard of Oz” inspired outfits and accessories.
A generous outpouring of support
“This year’s event was a truly wonderful celebration of our mission. It was a thrill to see so many new faces join in our efforts to assist families, who are so appreciative of our help. We were energized by the passionate and generous outpouring of support exhibited by our attendees,” said Tim Wayman, chair of the FamilyForward board of directors.
One highlight of the event was the inspirational testimony from a single parent who recently completed the intensive two-year family program at FamilyForward. (Read her story here.) The parent, whose husband had passed away suddenly, shared her deeply moving story of rising above overwhelming challenges as she rebuilt her life and took positive steps toward financial stability for her family. Thanks to the support, accountability and consistent encouragement she received from her volunteer mentors and the professional staff at FamilyForward, the parent was able to find hope and a path forward, toward a better future.
This year’s Giving Hope fundraiser was once again critically important, as client families continue to face struggles only aggravated by uncertain economic conditions and the ever-rising costs of rental housing and childcare. “We are deeply grateful to our supporters and partners, who came together to ensure that we not only met our fundraising goal, but exceeded it,” said Wayman.
Check out all our wonderfully generous sponsors and prize donors.
THANK YOU, everyone, for your support!
