Fall fun for FamilyForward!

We've had another busy fall, getting out and about in the community, meeting new people and spreading the word about FamilyForward.

FamilyForward board members at Farmers Market, Arlington Heights, Ill.

Oktoberfest presented by the Rotary Club of Palatine took place September 16-18. It’s a fun annual event in downtown Palatine with live music, German food and imported German beer. Board member Tina Richards and her husband, Todd, served beer to festgoers. As a past grant recipient, FamilyForward wanted to support this organization that gives back to our community by volunteering at the event.

We were pleased to staff a booth at the Arlington Heights Farmers Market on September 24. Held each Saturday morning in the commuter parking lot across from the Arlington Heights Historical Museum from mid-May through mid-October, the Farmers Market is a great place to interact with neighbors as they scoop up the delicious fresh local foods and produce. Board members Chris Farnsworth and Lou Walton (first shift) and Tim Wayman and Donna Anderson (second shift, shown in the photo) were on hand to provide information about our organization and answer questions.

Also taking place on September 24 was the Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce Business Expo, held at Falcon Recreation Center in Palatine. The event featured a large array of local area businesses and organizations. Whether someone was looking for a new place to dine, needing new dental or medical care, wanting to meet candidates on the ballot for the upcoming election or seeking help with specific services, there was something for everyone. For a second year, we hosted a table. It was fun to meet new smiling faces and talk about our mission and work at FamilyForward. Executive Director Erica Chianelli and board member Jennifer Strimling shared ways local people can spread the word about FamilyForward and even become mentors.
